It’s one of the most stubborn areas of the body we all want to tone. Whether it’s a little or a lot, small changes every day can make a huge difference to your figure in the long run.

Many of us start the day with a coffee; but why not try drinking a glass of warm water with lemon beforehand. This helps to flush out all unnecessary toxins as well as promoting digestion and increasing the metabolic heart rate. Whether you use a few slices of the fresh stuff or juice counterpart, beginning your day with this small step, helps to decrease hunger and contributes towards losing stubborn belly fat.

With the increased use of technology, more and more people are finding themselves with back pain and a lack of core strength. However, with the array of mobile apps and social videos, creating your own home workout is an easy and effective way to tone your abs. Many personal trainers believe 30 minutes a day of core training will lead to those rock-hard abs we all aspire to. Starting with exercises such as plank holds, Russian twists and leg raises will have you well on your way to a toned tummy and better core strength in no time!

Another culprit for an untoned tummy is sugar. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported from 2011-2012 an Australian adult was consuming 105g of sugar per day, when the recommended daily intake is no more than 55g or 13 teaspoons. If you’re unsure how to combat over indulging or finding yourself with that mega sugar craving, start small by reducing then removing added sugar from your morning coffee or swap milk chocolate for a row of dark.

Reducing your alcohol consumption is an easy step to decrease that belly bloat and increase the look of a toned tummy. Alcohol has the ability to make us want to eat more as it alters the way the liver processes particular hormones such as Leptin. It is also a diuretic, which causes water loss and dehydration. Therefore, lowering your daily or weekly intake or better still, cutting out alcohol completely, allows your liver to function properly so you’ll be closer to that tight tummy!

Whether you’re beginning your battle of the belly or already training for that toned tummy remember, these simple changes will have a lasting effect on your overall health and bring you one step closer to your dream bod.
