In the healthy eating world, a flexitarian day is the new black.
A what day, you might ask?
One of the key themes emerging in Slendier’s on-line community has been the move to clean, vegan diets. Some are embracing it as a way of life, while others are opting to nominate one or two days a week as a vegan or flexitarian day.
The benefits of ditching meat, dairy and processed foods are numerous.
Slashing the amount of calories, saturated fat and process sugar you consume means you’ll quickly notice the weight dropping off. You’ll also experience less sugar cravings as time goes on, and find yourself desiring healthier meals.
Foods that are high in fat and sugar send a signal to the brain to spew out a pleasure sensation, which is addictive and unhealthy.
You’re not actually craving that bar of chocolate or cheeseburger – you’re craving nutrients. And the less processed food you eat, the faster your body will get the nutrients it needs, meaning you’ll feel full for longer.
You’ll also have more energy as your blood sugar levels even out and you don’t get that 3pm sugar craving followed by a need for a good nap!
If that’s not incentive enough, reducing sugar and fat in the diet will even help your complexion as your body stops storing toxins from processed food.
